14 - November 10, 2016 evening

The Amazon is called "the lungs of the world" because of the tons of CO2 it captures and converts daily. Many scientists are concerned about the harvesting of trees without a reforesting plan and the clear cutting and burning (we can smell it) of standing timber to clear land for farming. We've seen many evidences of both on our short time on the Amazon. And sadly, many times when an area is burned off in becomes sterile to many plant forms. I believe the statistic quoted is more than 15% has been lost in a relatively short period of time.
