6 - November 1-2, 2016

We're in our first of two days at sea, leaving Bermuda yesterday evening and arriving St. Barts. Nov 3. We thought this would be a good time to introduce you to Oceania and Sirena.

Oceania currently has 6 ships. It started (2003?) with three (refurbished and renamed Regatta, Insignia, and Nautica) of the eight original 'R' class Renaissance ships. The story I've been told is that Renaissance thought they could cut out travel agents and book directly with guests-obviously didn't work as they soon went under. These identical ships hold a maximum of 684 guests. Several years ago Oceania commissioned two larger 1,280 passenger ships, Marina & Riviera. Then a little more than a year ago Oceania purchased another of the 'R' class ships from Princess Cruises, refurbished her and christened her Sirena. We are on our 10th cruise with Oceania and have sailed in all except Nautica. So let us tour the ship.

On Sirena Oceania has combined the former Toscana and Polo Grill restaurants into Tuscan Steak. They brought their very popular Red Ginger from their larger ships to Sirena. Great move. They will convert their other 'R' class to this configuration in the near future.
